I don't really know where to start. Ummm...
I went to the Lake District Yesterday and took some great pictures. Well... I *thought* I took some nice pictures, but it turns out that I hadn't used the camera right so the pictures didn't turn out. I was so annoyed, thats the second time that's happened to me. I can't use that camera! D:
I'll post the pictures that did turn out sometime soon.
We took the dog up for the day out and he loved it. We went up to Fairy Steps and walking along the fell, we also went to see my mum's great auntie's old cottage and spoke to the people who live there now. They're renovating some of the inside, putting in a new kitchen and bathroom etc and the outside toilet.
Bunt's cottage has a really interesting back story-It's built ontop of an old monistary, you can still see some of the old monistary building at the back of the house. There's a tunnel that runs from the outside toilet to a big pit in the middle of the forest at the back of the house. The house is supposed to be "haunted" by the ghost of an old man, my mum said she saw him when she used to visit Bunt when she was little, but the house didn't look haunted when I went. It just looked like a cute little old cottage, but then again looks can be deciving.
It was really great being able to speak to the people who own the place now, the house has been in our family for donkey's years, it was sad to see it in someone elses hands but interesting to speak to them at the same time. I was pleased to see that they had kept the old features of the house and the old barn at the back.
Fairy steps is quite a walk away from Bunt's cottage, but it's lovely when you get there.
Fairy Steps is little tiny steps that have been cut by hand into the rock, you litterally have to walk sideways and squeeze through to get to the top of the steps. The dog got up there in seconds though! There used to be an old Cannon ring at the top of the steps but we couldn't see it as it was all over grown which was a shame. Still it was nice to go and see it, the steps reminded me of something out of Lord of the rings!
I was so gutted that those pictures of the old church and pub didn't turn out, and the pictures of the little village in general. It was a lovely village, very beatrix-potter. No doubt we'll take the dog up there again though, so hopefully I can re-take some of the pictures I lost.
I'll go and grab the camera so i can upload some of the pictures now.
